MyGuyMars has spent two decades in rooms most producers never see. He produced "Stronger" for Kanye West, worked on Frank Ocean's "Solo" and "Godspeed," and built records with Nipsey Hussle and Tory Lanez. Snoop Dogg gave him his start. Nipsey shaped how he thinks about ownership. Now his storefront is live on Postal, and the door works both ways: drum kits and sample packs, written feedback, a 30 min call, mix and master, finish my beat, an idea starter, and $25 submissions for livestream, loops and sound design. Subscribers get every one of them at half price. We asked him about the sessions that changed his life, what he listens for in a submission, and why he's on Postal. His answers are below.

Through stories of how certain life changing placements came together, describe to us a few lessons that you've learned that will now help you give back to the up and comers that will be subscribing to you on Postal.

"Stronger" became the first Diamond-certified song in history, and nobody in that room knew it was going to happen. It was just work. That's the whole lesson. You don't get to know which session is the one, so you treat every single one like it could be. "Dedication" with Nipsey and Kendrick came from real relationship, not a calculated move. The records that changed my life were never the ones I chased hardest, they were built on real trust over real time. That's what I want every subscriber on Postal to walk in knowing. Character and consistency beat one great idea, every time.

How has success affected your relationship with your taste? And how do you maintain that balance between hunger and contentment?

Success doesn't sharpen taste, it tests it. So I stay hungry on purpose, chasing new tools, new instruments, new sounds, new experiences to create. The day comfort feels better than discovery is the day you start coasting, and I refuse to coast.

The Postal storefront is all about collaboration and discovering talent you otherwise might've missed. Who were those people to do that for you when you were coming up, and how did they help?

Snoop Dogg gave me my start and put me on the road with him, and that changed my entire life. Nipsey went even deeper than that, he shaped how I think about ownership, community, and building something real. Both of them bet on me before the world had any reason to. Postal is my chance to be that bet for somebody else, at scale.

What are some things you look for in a collaborator that people might not expect?

Not talent first. I'm listening for how someone takes a note, and whether they still bring their own voice into the room instead of just trying to please me. I've built real records with Nipsey, Terrace Martin, Susan Carol, Mya, Don Toliver, and Chris Brown, and every single one of them showed up ready to build something bigger than their own part.

How has your relationship with patience evolved over time? Do you remember a placement that took way longer than you thought to come out?

Retrospect, the album I produced and executive produced for Mya, started recording and writing in 2020. Years between the first session and the world hearing it. I've grown a lot more patient since then, but the real growth has been learning not to let my excitement turn into impatience. Believing in something and needing it right now are two different feelings, and I've had to get sharp at telling them apart.

What stands out to you first when listening to submissions from people trying to get discovered by you?

Intention. I can hear in seconds whether someone's chasing what's popular or chasing what's actually them. The one that's them wins every time, even unpolished. I can sharpen execution. Nobody can hand someone an identity.

As creatives and executives, life and music constantly seem intertwined. What are some habits that allow you to keep showing up energized for your career?

I build across every lane so I'm always bringing something new back into all of them. AfterChurchLA puts creatives on stage to perform, network, and get discovered. Tha Spaceship on the Venice Boardwalk puts brands and artists in front of 28,000 to 30,000 people a day for launches, pop-ups, and live shows. The Spaceship Recording compound gives artists three real studios to create in. My personal studio and museum documents the history, the plaques, the awards, the work, so the story never gets lost, backed by a team built to elevate every artist who walks through, not just me. Never the same day twice, that's the energy source.

If you could put one sentence up on a billboard to describe how you would like to be remembered when it's all said and done, what would it be?

"He built a life that outlived him, one record, one artist, one person at a time."
